Crops like Tomatoes, Melons and Hops can be added to a Realm, by planting Seeds.
Seeds can be bought from the Farmer Vendor or looted off a Gnomes corpse.
If a crop is planted in error it can be destroyed using herbicide purchased from the Farmer Vendor.
Seeds are a "Activate and Click" type of item. That means, you doubleclick them and targed the tile you want to plant them on.

Planting Crops
There are differences in plants - some can be harvested by doubleclicking them, some drop the items directly. That means, that the planting actually needs to be planned, when it shouldnt be just for decoration.
Barley, Cotton, Wheat and Rye
These Crops can be harvested by doubleclicking and will dissapear afterwards. You can walk over/trough them, so there is no need to plant paths trough them.
Melons, Pumpkins, Hops and Orange Trees
These plants will 'drop' their Fruits right next to the plant. The plant requires 1 tile of space around it, to grow the Fruit. Since Fruits however cant stack when spawned, there should be at least a 2 tile space around the plant.
Bee Hives drop their combs the same way.
Tomatoes, Grape (Purple), Grape (Green) and Corn
When Planted, these Crops need paths, since they will stay when harvested and cant be walked on. If you want to make a Labyrinth, these plants are the best way to do it.
