In the beginning, there were realms, and they were good. Then Rewolf and Questor said, let there be realm editors! And they were awesome in spite of some problems. However- they forgot the manual.

It's not much but I hope it helps:

I'll expand later, but I don't want to go into too much depth until the next version of the Editor comes out. First things first...

Your realm is a limited space within the zone you use your claim stake on. You cannot change the outer portions, i.e. the roads around, rivers, and passages to neighboring realms. The ground tiles you use in your realmspace will blend with the surrounding tiles as best they can.

I do recommend, to leave the Recently Used Objects at the top of the screen untouched, it has been known to cause errors that may prevent you from saving properly and uploading, as well as corrupting your file.

Object Types

Tiles - basic ground/floor tiles. Works best when placed at Z=0. Can be placed higher but can cause problems, so it is best to avoid that.

Tile Blend - same as above, but will do a 50-50 blend between two tiles, the blend will take place in the square between the new tile and the surrounding tiles. so Given ABC where A is the new tile and C is the existing tile, B will be half A and half C

Sprites - Limited use, special purpose objects, fences, rocks, plant life and the like. Non interactive.

Walls - The name is misleading, while they are primarily used in building walls, they can be used for almost everything, floors, walls, cielings, stairs, countertops, benches, whatever. These are pieces of raw geometry, some more specialised than others. they range from a simple cube to broken wall sections and cathedral buttresses.

Tip: Dont forget to add Textures to Walls

Entities - don't worry about it for now.

Object Control

Under the object types there's a whole slew of buttons.

Rotate CLOCKWISE/COUNTERCLOCKWISE - generally only used for walls, will rotate the object 90 degrees left or right.

Flip VERTICAL/HORIZONTAL - Mostly applies to sprites but can be used for walls too. Mirrors the object upside down or left to right respectively.

Nudge LEFT/RIGHT/UP/DOWN - will move the item along the X-Y plane in the direction chosen by 1 unit. This is not a vertical movement, and is not aligned with the tile grid but up/down/left/right relative to your screen.

ZPos UP/DOWN - this will raise and lower the height of the selected object by 1 level. Generally, second floors of houses and the like will be at Z=20.

Stack Up/Down... iono.?

Useful Tips

There is a slider located on the left of the viewing/editing window that goes from 0-100. This is your height control. You can set this at the height you would like to work as a base height. You will not be able to edit objects below the raised grid unless you lower the slider back down to the appropriate level.

Move the slider up until the grid just appears above the items you wish to stack them on, or simply move it up to make objects float in the air.

Holding SHIFT while clicking on objects in selection mode will enables boolean AND selection. You can select as many items as you want this way. Dragging the mouse to draw a box around items will select everything in the box at the level of the slider grid and up, so if you have a 5 story house and you draw a box around something.. it will get the something and everything directly above it on all 5 floors. It will NOT select items located below the slider's height grid. ROOFING- this can be done by dragging a section of whatever you want to make your roof out of onto the wall, or by setting the slider on the left to the height you wish to start the roof at. I recommend using walls for roofing because they come in a variety of shapes and once you've played with it a little you can probably do most anything you want with them.

Texturing:

To add texture to walls, select the item(or items, it may be useful to use the 'Select all identical' function to do mass texturing.)

Tip:Do not select multiple types of objects when texturing, since you will change the type of the Object, to the first object selected.

There are multiple textures on each wall piece. Each one has a colour and corresponds to a texture slot at the bottom of the window. Simply click on the texture slot at the bottom and select a texture from the list on the left to assign it, you'll see what you have in the preview window. The left image is preview, the right image is reference for which color is where on the object.

How to get your Realm into the game

Make sure to save, and if you like it the way it is make a backup.

Now you'll need to find a spot to claim as your very own in game if you haven't already.

  1. Purchase a Claim Stake from the Banker. Any Banker will do, at this time they should cost $5-7,000.00- and you only need 1.
  2. Locate unclaimed land. The Temporary Map may be out of date but it's all there is to help you. For reference the game is rotated 45 degrees to the left (CCW)for display. North is upper right, South is lower Left. Drop your claim stake in an unclaimed realm, and double click it to claim. Voila, it's yours. (you may have to wait for the server to update, don't worry though)
  3. Upload your realm. Once you've gotten the map made and the claim staked, select (save and) upload from the file menu on the linkrealm editor. You will be prompted for your username and password. Don't worry, it's safe. You have to click on the button to upload, at this time pressing enter after entering your password does not work.
  4. Chase everyone out of your realm, give it a few minutes and come back in to bask in the glory of what other game's players can only dream of... your very own custom playground. If someone is being a moron, you can select temporary ban from the left side of your in-game buttons (3rd one down, looks like a key), this is also where you can access the GO HOME function which teleports you to your realm automatically, as well as the Friend function, which can be used to grant people access to certain things in your realm (what is open to friends is determined when you secure the items)
  5. After you have settled into your realm you may decide that you don't like the location or the terrain (terrain varies according to the realm's position on the map). Explore and find an empty realm that you like. Purchase another Claim Stake from the Banker and stake your claim in the empty realm. During the next regular maintenance period all items, including planted crops, will be transferred to your new realm.
